FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HILTI NORTH AMERICA NAMED RECIPIENT OF SHAPIRO'S 2025 SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
Recognizing Hilti North America's Leadership in Circular Material Recovery and Emissions Reduction
St. Louis, Missouri – August 13, 2026 — Shapiro, a sustainability and circular solutions company, today announced that Hilti North America has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Shapiro Sustainability Award. Presented annually, the award recognizes clients who demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainability through measurable environmental progress, operational innovation, and long-term leadership.
In 2025, Hilti North America recycled more than 1.1 million pounds of material across its Irving and Lewisville, Texas, locations. The Irving facility recycled 668,327 pounds, including 647,804 pounds of tools and 20,523 pounds of insulated copper wire. The Lewisville ESC contributed an additional 450,481 pounds, including 449,201 pounds of steel scrap and 1,280 pounds of tools. Together, the two facilities recycled 1,118,808 pounds of material in 2025, demonstrating the scale and consistency of Hilti North America's commitment to responsible end-of-life materials management.
A defining achievement of the year was Hilti North America’s strategic decision to localize its recycling logistics. By transitioning from a national collection model — which averaged 1,264 miles per pickup — to a regionally optimized framework averaging just 132 miles per pickup, the company dramatically reduced its transportation footprint while maintaining strong recovery performance. The shift is estimated to have avoided 67.07 metric tons of CO₂-equivalent emissions, the equivalent of removing approximately 14.58 passenger vehicles from the road for one year or the carbon sequestered by 3,080 mature trees. The program also generated approximately $32,000 in transportation cost savings in 2025, demonstrating that environmental and financial performance can align when programs are thoughtfully designed.
"This recognition reflects more than a single project or metric. It represents intentional leadership, environmental progress, and a commitment to building a more sustainable, circular future," said Bob Alvarez, President of Shapiro. "We are honored to partner with Hilti North America and deeply appreciate their view of sustainability not as an obligation, but as an opportunity to lead."
Award recipients are evaluated on environmental impact, leadership commitment, innovation, and long-term momentum. The Shapiro Sustainability Award is designed not only to celebrate success, but to elevate best practices and inspire continued progress across industries.
Partnerships like this reflect Shapiro's belief that meaningful sustainability progress is achieved through collaboration—a commitment embodied in its purpose of Making the Planet Better Together.
